The name of the diet plan is GM Diet. Isn’t that amazing that in spite of having the name of a corporate giant it has nothing that really connects dieting with General Motors? According to rumors it is said this diet schedule was especially designed for the employees of the said company. But all these failing assumptions have only made it a famous dieting program.

Things that are popular are sometimes not as effective as they are deemed to be. So you may wonder whether to adopt this as your dieting exercise or not. Well for this let us go into the details of how the plan really works.

The focus of GM Diet is on strict calorie restriction. It works on a 7 day eating mechanism with some very unorthodox food preferences. The idea is simple to work you out on your weight. You lose calories rapidly and you would fast be back in shape is what it targets. Many unheard or interesting combinations are involved in this diet plan. You are always left wondering over what and why some food items are clubbed together.

On day 1 you are given a chance to have your favorite fruit and have it as much as you can. But you can’t go for bananas at all even if that’s your favorite fruit.

Day 2 is for vegetables. To start with, a large baked potato is for the breakfast. For the rest only fresh or cooked veggies are considered. No seasoning is allowed.

Day 3 again you can eat all kinds of fruits and veggies except bananas.

Day 4 you are told to have 8 bananas and 3 full glasses of milk. But then the first three days bananas were abandoned.

Here is another interesting combination on day 5 you need to have 10oz. portions of lean beef and 6 whole tomatoes. The regular water intake should also go up by a quart.

You can have as much beef and vegetables as you can on day 6.

On the last day i.e. on day 7 you are required to have brown rice and vegetables, and drink fruit juices.

These strange and fascinating combinations make GM Diet very popular and on weight loss front it is very effective. It helps you shed lot of pounds in few days as compared to any other diet plan. However it carries a word of caution for the dieter that after 7 days are over he may draw his weight back. So remember this before you start.

In spite of this you cannot take credit away from the 20 year old plan as it is really effective in making you loose a lot of weight. Hence it can mould you into a fit shape quite certainly and make you look great at a party next week. So it is worth taking a chance.
